Migration to PIN-Based Payment Cards

To enhance awareness and accelerate the adoption of PIN for payment card transactions, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in collaboration with the National Cards Group (NCG) had conducted merchant engagement sessions at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur on 19 May 2017.

During the engagement sessions, the merchants were reminded, amongst others, that merchants should train their staff now to accept PIN to benefit from greater protection against fraud and to minimise potential disruptions to or loss of business come 1 July 2017 due to the inability to accept PIN. Representatives from the individual acquirers were also present to address issues related to migration to PIN, and share the industry's plans and incentive campaigns to ensure a seamless transition. Similar engagements with merchant groups were also held in Kota Kinabalu (4 May 2017), Kuching (5 May 2017), Johor Bahru (22 May 2017) and Pulau Pinang (24 May 2017).
