Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) is one of Malaysia’s fully independent Islamic financial institutions, established on 1 October 1999. It was formed through the consolidation of Islamic banking assets from Bank Bumiputra Malaysia, Bank of Commerce (Malaysia), and BBMB Kewangan. Bank Muamalat is backed by two major shareholders, DRB-HICOM Berhad (70%) and Khazanah Nasional Berhad (30%), both of whom play a vital role in shaping its strategic direction.
The Bank has network of 70 branches and 253 self-service terminals nationwide. Bank Muamalat’s provides banking and financial solutions that strictly adhere to the Shariah rules and principles for both retail and businesses. Our deep commitment to Shariah compliance is reinforced by a panel of highly qualified scholars who provide expert guidance on product development and ensure adherence to Islamic financial principle.
Beyond its banking services, Bank Muamalat is committed to social finance and sustainable development, spearheading impactful initiatives such as iTEKAD microfinance, waqf-based investments, halal industry financing, and zakat distribution. Its commitment to financial inclusion extends to empowering small businesses and underserved communities, driving economic growth with purpose. It is also the first Islamic bank in Malaysia to be accepted into the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), a global network that champions ethical banking practices.
