eDUIT - intro

'e-Duit! Selamat, Senang, Segera' is a campaign to accelerate the use of electronic payment (e-payment) in Malaysia. It includes the use of payment cards, e-wallets, and internet and mobile banking. Through the e-Duit campaign, the payment industry will embark on a nationwide effort to elevate public awareness and build user confidence in e-payment adoption.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) envisions more people adopting e-payment as their preferred medium for transactions in the coming years. It is also part of BNM’s financial inclusion initiatives to increase digitalisation across all segments of society, as set out in the Financial Sector Blueprint (FSBP) 2022-2026. Through the e-Duit campaign and other industry-wide initiatives, BNM aims to increase the number of e-payment transactions by at least 15% annually to achieve more than 400 e-payment transactions per capita by 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is e-Duit? ‘e-Duit! Selamat, Senang, Segera’ is a campaign to accelerate the use of electronic payment (e-payment) in Malaysia. It includes the use of payment cards, e-wallets, and internet and mobile banking. Through the e-Duit campaign, the payment industry will embark on a nationwide effort to elevate public awareness and build user confidence in e-payment adoption.

The ‘e’ stands for ‘electronic’, while the term ‘duit’ means ‘money’ in Bahasa Malaysia, which is the medium of exchange used in our daily lives.

e-Duit is the main logotype, representing various e-payment options such as payment cards, e-wallets, and internet and mobile banking. It also carries the meaning of empowering your finances, as it comes with the 3 ‘S’ tagline – i.e., ‘Selamat (Secure), Senang (Simple), Segera (Swift)’.

The three coloured layers symbolise the three features of e-payment:

  • Blue brings calmness and security. Users can feel secure transacting with the e-payment option.

  • Yellow shines with positive progress and hope. Transitioning to e-payment is simple, and it certainly makes transacting much easier!

  • Pink represents compassion and inclusiveness. As we strive for progress, we should move forward together and not leave anyone behind.

e-Duit is NOT a new payment instrument introduced for payment transactions. e-Duit is a campaign to promote e-payment, which encompasses all e-payment services in Malaysia, including payment cards, e-wallet, and internet and mobile banking.

The e-Duit campaign supports the nation’s aspiration towards advancing the adoption of digital financial services, including using e-payment. The FSBP outlines the vision to consistently grow the use of e-payment by at least 15% annually. The campaign aims to amplify interest and build confidence in e-payment through an industry-wide coordinated approach.

There will be promotional activities, outreach programmes and educational campaigns by participating industry players to create greater awareness and instil user confidence in e-payment. Businesses, agencies and individuals can also look for incentives from the financial industry to encourage e-payment adoption.

BNM coordinates the e-Duit campaign with support from the Financial Education Network (FEN) and payment industry players, which include payment system operators, issuers, and acquirers. The campaign is also being held in partnership with relevant government agencies, industry associations, institutions, local communities, and consumer groups to undertake initiatives to promote electronic payment.

We welcome all relevant parties to participate in this campaign. If you are a business owner or government agency who would like to be a part of the e-Duit campaign to promote the use of e-payment at your premises, you may contact the participating financial institutions, such as merchant acquirers or e-wallet providers. Alternatively, you may also reach out to BNMLINK via eLINK or call 1300-88-5465.
