Alleged Fake RM5 Polymer Banknote

A recent news report alleging fake RM5 Polymer banknotes in circulation is highly misleading. Investigations by Bank Negara Malaysia has revealed that the banknote is genuine. The faded prints were caused by chemical reaction.
Members of the public should take note of the many security features on the RM5 polymer banknote which includes:
These security features reduce the potential risk of counterfeit. Members of the public should therefore continue to use the RM5 Polymer banknotes with confidence.
