Appointment of New Deputy Governor, Retirement of Deputy Governor and Appointment of Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) today announces that the Minister of Finance has approved the appointment of Encik Aznan bin Abdul Aziz as Deputy Governor for a three-year term effective 1 April 2025.
As Deputy Governor, Encik Aznan will oversee the supervision and regulation sector. He will be a member of BNM’s Board of Directors and Monetary Policy Committee. He will continue to serve on various BNM committees including Reserve Management Committee, Risk Management Committee, Financial Stability Committee, Joint Policy Committee, Enforcement Committee, Digital and Technology Committee and Crisis Management Committee.
Encik Aznan holds a Degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. He is currently the Chairman of the Board Audit Committee of International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation, a member of the Board of Directors and Board Audit and Risk Committee of the Labuan Financial Services Authority, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and an ex-officio member of the Financial Reporting Foundation.
BNM also wishes to announce the appointment of Datuk Jessica Chew Cheng Lian as a Technical Adviser on financial stability matters following her retirement from BNM.

Datuk Jessica has been a continuous source of wisdom and support over the last 34 years in achieving BNM’s strategic mandates and organisational excellence. I also appreciate her willingness to continue supporting BNM in the technical work relating to financial stability.’
Following the appointment of Encik Aznan as Deputy Governor, BNM is also announcing the appointment of Puan Cindy Siah Hooi Hoon as Assistant Governor.
Puan Cindy will be responsible for the Financial Conglomerates Supervision, Banking Supervision, Insurance and Takaful Supervision, Risk Specialist and Technology Supervision as well as Payment Services Oversight departments.
Prior to her appointment, Puan Cindy served in the Prudential Financial Policy and Banking Supervision Departments. Puan Cindy is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.
