Bank Negara Malaysia RM50 and RM100 Note Security Features
Embargo :28 Jun 2003
Bank Negara Malaysia wishes to state that the printing of Malaysian notes is conducted under very strict security. Bank Negara Malaysia constantly monitors any occurrence of counterfeit Malaysian notes.
Members of the public can easily recognise genuine Malaysian notes by their security features which are easily visible. The holographic strip on the right hand side of a genuine RM50 or RM100 note will reveal the words “RM50” or “RM100” and the lettering “BNM” when viewed at an angle. Also, the silver thread embedded on the reverse side of the notes should be intact at all times. Further information on the security features of Malaysian notes can be obtained from any Bank Negara Malaysia branch or in Banking info pamphlets which are available at the banking institutions. Members of the public should immediately inform either Bank Negara Malaysia or the Police if they come into contact with Malaysian notes suspected of being counterfeit.
