Karnival Celik Kewangan (KCK) Pahang Empowers Local Communities with Financial Literacy Skills
Karnival Celik Kewangan (KCK) Pahang runs from 6 to 7 July 2024 at East Coast Mall, Kuantan. It follows a roadshow held at 11 districts in Pahang between 1 and 5 July 2024 to bring free financial advice and financial education to more communities in Pahang.
KCK is organised by the Financial Education Network (FEN) in collaboration with the financial industry. It is a nationwide effort to equip Malaysians with financial management skills and improve financial inclusion.
During the launch of KCK Pahang, Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid highlighted that people who are financially literate are usually better at managing their everyday finances. They are not too burdened with debt, able to save for emergencies and plan for the future. This helps them to live comfortably and make smart money choices for their personal or business needs.
KCK Pahang features interactive booths hosted by FEN members, government agencies, and financial institutions. There are performances, lucky draws, activities for children with an appearance by the Si Kijang mascot, and a mini concert. There is also a #JanganKenaScam booth to educate the public about financial scams.
In conjunction with KCK Pahang, FEN conducted a Financial Literacy Squad roadshow to provide local communities throughout Pahang with access to free financial advice and relevant education resources. These include topics on personal financial management, digital financial literacy, awareness of financial scams, and risk protection.
BNM also hosted an SME (small and medium enterprises) Dialogue in Kuantan with 26 Pahang associations and businesses. The Dialogue discussed the latest economic developments and prospects, as well as the SME financing ecosystem. This platform facilitated a two-way conversation between BNM and Pahang SMEs on sector-specific issues. It has provided BNM with valuable insights to support business growth and a better understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs.
