Beware of deepfakes and impersonation scams!

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) do not promote or recommend private investment schemes. Always verify information through official sources before you invest.

If you encounter content purportedly from senior officers from BNM or SC promoting investments or financial products:

1. Verify the information through official channels before acting on or sharing the content:

• Head over to bnm.gov.my/verify for examples of deepfake content and impersonations related to BNM.

• Check BNM’s Financial Consumer Alert List or SC’s Investor Alert List for entities or schemes that may have been flagged by the authorities.

• Verify whether the entity is authorised to offer financial or investment products through BNMLINK or SC's Investment Checker portal.

• Follow Amaran Scam Facebook page to find out more on the latest scams and tips to avoid them.

2. Report suspicious content to the relevant social media platform, or alert BNM or the SC, to help prevent its further spread.
