The Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill Passed by Dewan Negara

The Dewan Negara passed the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2013 (AMLATFA) today. The Bill was earlier passed by the Dewan Rakyat on 18 June 2014.
Amendments to the AMLATFA aims to further enhance public and investors’ confidence in the Malaysian financial system and the economy by addressing the risks and threats of money laundering and terrorist financing activities in the country. Implementation of the AMLATFA will support the necessary legal framework to combat overall crime, enabling cooperation with other countries globally as well as to further strengthen the country’s security and well being.
